  • The Ohio University Board of Trustees today presented President Roderick J. McDavis with a positive performance evaluation and unanimously re-elected him as president of Ohio University.

  • In the final board meeting of the fiscal year with a packed agenda, the Ohio University Board of Trustees today approved a $540 million budget for fiscal 2008. It also unveiled a positive annual evaluation of President Roderick J. McDavis and re-elected him for the coming year.

  • Fifty early childhood teachers from 12 Appalachian counties will learn how to better help children learn math through literacy skills, thanks to a $100,000 grant secured by Ohio University's Appalachia Reads program. The funding will be used to host two professional development workshops titled "Better Mathematics through Literacy" and follow-up sessions for the teachers.

  • Katherine Tadlock and Katherine Ziff have been named to interim appointments in the office of Executive Vice President and Provost Kathy Krendl.   • Ohio University-Zanesville's Sheida Shirvani and Mark Waters of the Eastern Campus have been named this year's Regional Campus Outstanding Professors. The award was created to formally recognize faculty members at Ohio University's five regional campuses who have demonstrated excellence in teaching, scholarship and service.

  • Newly named Presidential Teachers Connie Esmond-Kiger and Sarah Wyatt share not only a love for teaching, but a love for doing it at Ohio University. Esmond-Kiger, an associate professor of accounting, was recognized at Saturday morning's undergraduate commencement exercises, and Wyatt, an associate professor of environmental and plant biology, was singled out at the afternoon ceremony.

With that purchase and a crystal-clear vision, Baker -- a drama enthusiast who both acted and directed in Athens and at the Monomoy -- ensured that a university and community treasure would remain strong today, 17 years after her passing.
