  • Gretchen Cataline is one of nine Ohio University graduates who have agreed to put their intended careers on hold to teach at low-income schools around the country in the Teach for America program.   • Ohio University will institute the first full-scale composting project at a college or university in the state after being awarded a grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. ODNR's Division of Recycling and Litter Prevention awarded Ohio University $250,000 as part of $1,438,000 in grants to public and private partnerships to boost the market for recycled products in Ohio.

Employees and students from the regional campuses will again have the opportunity to pose questions to the president and other university leaders during the meeting through an e-mail link.

  • Conservation Challenge targets greenhouse gases 4/10/2007

  • The 2007 Residence Challenge has resulted in record-breaking savings of more than one hundred tons of CO2 and approximately 700 kilogallons of water. The challenge, now in its seventh year, is an Ohio University initiative that addresses climate change and resource conservation in the forty one residence halls, where more than 7,000 students live, work and play.

  • Gov. Ted Strickland acknowledges that his proposed higher education compact asks state-assisted universities to make difficult decisions, but he says a very tight budget has forced him to make touch choices, too. During a visit to the Athens campus Monday, Strickland toured the Alden Library Learning Commons and the College of Osteopathic Medicine's Mobile Health Van and met with student scholars and faculty.

With a reorganization of Ohio University's diversity and equity initiatives, the university will strengthen the campuswide diversity initiatives and advance the institution's core mission of academics. The reorganization will take effect July 1.
