  • Robert Davis, a doctoral candidate in Ohio University's Department of History, has won a Fulbright grant for the 2005-06 academic year to study Norway's international diplomacy and role in NATO.   • Robert Judd, Ohio University professor of electrical engineering and computer science, has been named chair of the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering effective spring quarter.

  • The name of the office that manages many of the university's major events has been changed to the Office of University Events. It was formerly known as the Office of Public Occasions.
     
  • Ohio University senior is finalist for Mellon Fellowship (03/18/2005)

  • Ohio University senior Mark Watson of Rockbridge, Ohio, is one of 147 finalists for an Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship in Humanistic Studies.

  • Two Athens residents will be part of a delegation of American civic and religious activists to visit Indonesia for two weeks beginning March 16 as part of an Ohio University project focusing on promoting and facilitating inter-religious dialogue in Indonesia.
     
  • Bold new Web site caters to prospective students (03/04/2005)

  • According to a new report released by the Neilsen Norman Group, three-quarters of American teens are Web users. In an effort to attract that group of users to the Ohio University Web site, University Communications and Marketing launched a new "front door" for the university's Web site, www.ohio.edu.
     
  • Concert to showcase African music and dance (03/04/2005)

  • Rhythms of Africa will fill Ohio University's Kantner Hall this April as dancers and musicians celebrate the continent's many cultures in a performance entitled "Creole Africaine." Performances will be Saturday, April 2, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 3, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Elizabeth Baker Theater.
     
  • Student relief efforts continue to help tsunami victims (03/04/2005)

  • Standing at the College Gate on a cold January day at the beginning of winter quarter, student volunteers came together in the aftermath of the devastating tsunami on Dec. 26 in the Indian Ocean and collected donations for the relief effort.
     
  • Students race to finish films in 48 hours for 'Shoot Out' (03/04/2005)

  • Ohio University students wrote, directed, produced and starred in 26 original short films the weekend of Feb. 21, as part of Ohio University's third annual 48-hour film contest.
     
  • WOUB announces student staff for next season's 'Gridiron Glory' (03/02/2005)

  • 'Gridiron Glory' will have a new face for an exciting seventh season. Alex Adeyanju will be the new studio host for the show while Joe Barrett guides 'Gridiron' through the season as producer.
     
  • Ohio University remains fifth and 15th in Recyclemania at halfway point (03/02/2005)

  • At the halfway point of the RecycleMania 2005 competition, Ohio University remains fifth with a weight of 26.58 recycled pounds of waste per student living on campus. The Bobcats outperformed fourth-place Oregon State University (27.78) last week by .04 pounds after recording a weight of 4.87 pounds, the sixth-highest number last week.
     
  • School of Theater presents 'Three Sisters' (03/02/2005)

  • "Three Sisters" will be presented by Ohio University?s School of Theater March 2 to 6 and
    9 to 13, at 8 p.m. in the Forum Theater, located in Radio Television Building.

     
  • University community invited to open forum March 3 (03/02/2005)

  • The Presidential Task Force on the Future of Ohio University will host an open forum for the university community at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 3, in Margaret M. Walter Hall, room 127.
     
  • Tunnel 5 construction project begins March 1 (03/01/2005)

  • Ohio University will begin a construction project involving Tunnel 5 on March 1. Tunnel 5 is a concrete structure that runs along Lot 109, the parking lot located behind the Life Sciences Research Facility on the West Green.
     
  • Senior VisCom student named one of nation's top minority advertising students by AAF (03/01/2005)

  • The Cleveland Advertising Association (CAA) has awarded senior visual communication student Ming Tsang a $4,000 scholarship as well as a nomination by CAA Executive Director Richard Squire as one the most promising minority students in advertising by the American Advertising Federation (AAF).
