Athens Photographic Project presents on Tuesday
The Ohio University chapter of the NPPA (National Press Photographers Association), will present an evening with the Athens Photographic Project at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in Walter Hall 145.
The Athens Photographic Project (APP) artists and staff will discuss the impact that their award-winning photography program has had on personal lives, the region and the visual representation of mental health conditions.
APP is a regional fine art program that provides photography as a resource for mental health recovery and community integration. For the last 10 years, residents of Athens, Hocking and Vinton counties have led the nation in discovering how photography can serve as a vital tool for rebuilding meaningful and fulfilling lives despite the persistence of major mental health conditions, such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
The APP receives lead support from the 317 Board and major support from community members and organizations.
The Ohio University chapter of the NPPA is hosting Tuesday's presentation with funding from the Student Activities Commission and the School of Visual Communication.
For more information, contact Nate Thomson, APP project director at 740-592-1525 or athensphoto@earthlink.net. Also, learn more about the APP by downloading an informational PDF at www.namiathensohio.org/pdf/APP.pdf. Details
