CHI guest lecturer Thursday

Glen Howard will serve as the CHI guest lecturer from 4:10 to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday in Baker University Center 240. His lecture is titled "To Surge or Not to Surge: The U.S. Security Dilemma in Afghanistan and Eurasia."

Howard is the president of the Jamestown Foundation, a research and analysis organization based in Washington, D.C., that focuses on conflict and instability in Eurasia. He recently completed a one-week trip to Iraq and has traveled to the North and South Caucasus and witnessed firsthand the Russian invasion of Georgia in August 2008.

Howard has served as a consultant to the U.S. government and private energy companies and directs the research and analysis of one of Washington's foremost research organizations on conflict and instability.

His lecture is free and open to the public.
