- Patricia Goedicke Poetry Reading
- Thursday, Sept. 26, at 7:30 p.m. at Galbreath Chapel.
- Award-wining poet and Ohio University alumna Patricia Goedicke will read from her work and a reception will follow the reading. Goedicke is the author of 12 books of poetry. Her most recent, "As Earth Begins to End," was named one of the top ten poetry books for 2000 by the American Library Association. She has received a National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship, a Pushcart Prize and a William Carlos Williams Prize, among others. This event is free and open to the public. - "Latinos sin Frontera" art exhibit
- Through Saturday, Oct. 12 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Lindley Cultural Center Art Gallery.
- In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Lindley Cultural Center will feature artists who have been inspired by their Hispanic heritage. Their works express drama, tragedy, suffering, life, silence, meditation, sadness and a view from a different eye. Featured artists are: Wilfred Calvo Bono, Melissa Roman-Gerling, Richard Roman-Gerling and Efran Zapa. This exhibition is a journey through the emotions that have marked their lives and it recognizes the expressiveness that emanates from their culture. - Introduction to InfoTree/Libraries Web site
- Friday, Sept. 27 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Alden Library, Room 323.
- This workshop will introduce users to the new features of the University Libraries Web site at www.library.ohiou.edu. Using InfoTree, the library's new information gateway, locating services and functionality will be covered. Includes hands-on practice. Prerequisite: Familiarity with using a Web browser. - Hispanic Heritage Month keynote address
- Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 7:30 p.m at the Baker University Center Ballroom.
- Maria Hinojosa, CNN correspondent and award-winning journalist, will present "The U.S. Mambo: One Step Forward, Two Steps Back - the State of Latinos in America." There will also be a "Meet and Greet" from 6 to 7 p.m. in Baker Center's 1954 Lounge. This event is part of Hispanic Heritage Month and is sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Programs.
