    Sept. 11 anniversary commemoration

    Events are scheduled all day to commemorate this solemn anniversary, culminating with a University and community ceremony at the West Portico of Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

    Free blood pressure screenings

    Thursday, Sept. 12, 19 and 26, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Baker Center lobby.

    WellWorks is offering these free screenings to all every Thursday during fall quarter. Visit the WellWorks Web site for call 593-2093 for more information on this and other WellWorks programs.

     

    Arts and Sciences award ceremony

    Friday, Sept. 13, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Ohio University Inn Ballroom.

    The College of Arts and Sciences will be welcoming their new faculty and recognizing those students and faculty who have been awarded the Dean's Outstanding Teacher, Group II Faculty, and Service Awards; The Jeanette Grasselli Brown Faculty Teaching and Undergraduate Research Awards; and those faculty who have attained promotion or promotion and tenure during 2001-02.     OU-Chillicothe Family Fun Fest

    Saturday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Shoemaker Center.

    Ohio University-Chillicothe is hosting the eighth annual Family Fun Fest. Over 40 social service and health care agencies will be participating and offering a variety of interesting and entertaining child-oriented activities and giveaways, along with valuable information about local programs and services for people of all ages. There will be free blood pressure and other health screenings for adults and a free child care seat check will be available in Shoemaker's upper parking lot. Admission is free. This event is sponsored by the Ross County Social Services Council, the City of Chillicothe, Adena Health Systems, the Chillicothe Jaycees and Ohio University-Chillicothe.

     

    15th Annual Volunteer Fair

    Tuesday, Sept. 17, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the West Portico of Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium.

    Interested volunteers have the chance to meet with community organization representatives who are recruiting volunteers. Snacks, raffle, music and fun. Sponsored by the Center for Community Service. Contact: Jamie Fox, e-mail jf284695@ohio.edu

     

    Music lessons available for fall quarter

    The Athens Community Music School is accepting registrations for the fall quarter until Sept. 20. Adults and children can take advantage of a variety of group and private lessons for piano and voice. An added bonus is Jazz Ensembles for 8th through 12th graders and a Children's Chorus.

    Classes start at $88 excluding a registration fee.

    Thursday, Sept. 19, at 8 p.m. Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium.

    An evening of world music with the former drummer of the Grateful Dead with Bembe Orisha. Tickets $23.50 in advance/ $26 at the door and are on sale at the TBAMA box office or call 593-1780.     WeightWorks
    Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 24 and continuing every Tuesday through Nov. 12.

    Each week meet with the WellWorks nutrition counselor and others to learn how to establish balance through nutrition, exercise and lifestyle management. $25 for university employees and dependents; $30 for WellWorks community members.
