ROBERT J. TREVAS died unexpectedly July 16 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He came to Ohio University in 1968, where he taught philosophy until his retirement in 1995. He continued to teach as emeritus faculty through winter quarter 2002. TREVAS was well known for his dedication to teaching and his students. He was named University Professor in 1972 and again in 1978 and created such popular courses as medical ethics, philosophy of sport and philosophy of sex and love.
A memorial service celebrating TREVAS' life will be held in September. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Ohio University Philosophy Department for the Bob Trevas Scholarship Fund, 202 Ellis Hall.
