The Ohio University Alumni Association has chosen the recipients of the 2002 Alumni Awards. The annual awards are given to graduates and friends who have distinguished themselves in their professions or in outstanding service to the University.
Alumni, faculty and staff submit nominations throughout the year, and the Alumni Board selects the recipients. The awards are presented during Homecoming festivities.
This year's recipients are:
Alumnus/Alumna of the Year
Awarded to the most distinguished Ohio University alumnus/a. Nominees must have previously received the Medal of Merit Award or Distinguished Service Award to qualify.
Medal of Merit Award
Awarded to alumni who have achieved distinction in their chosen fields.

- Connie J. Tobias -- Achievement in Aviation
Distinguished Service Awards
Awarded to alumni who have supported Ohio University and the Alumni Association through alumni chapters, clubs, societies, and/or other University-related or support organizations or activities.

Honorary Alumnus/Alumna Award
Awarded to nonalumni who have provided exemplary service to Ohio University through careers at the institution or contact with students, faculty or staff.

Charles J. and Claire O. Ping Recent Graduate Award
Awarded to alumni who have graduated in the last 15 years and have retained an active interest and participation in the University. Nominees must be community leaders whose college education has been a factor in their success.
