Busted water pipes, students trapped in elevators and any dormitory troubles have Ohio University's facilities and auxiliaries staff constantly on the run trying to keep campus operations running smoothly. So, who deals with these emergency calls? Facilities Management answers maintenance calls from all over campus on a daily basis.

Carlotta Hensler, administrative assistant, has been working at the University for almost three years and has fielded numerous emergencies during her time at the front desk in the facility management office. Hensler is not only responsible for fielding trouble calls but also processing work orders, operating the radio, working the switchboard and acting as an information desk. "It was quite a challenge when I first started working here, but then I settled in and became familiar with the campus," Hensler said. "A great staff gets the job done."
Additionally, she chairs the Mary Harrington Employee of the Month program for facilities and auxiliaries and recently was selected to be a representative for the Classified Senate.
"She really is a true optimist," said Laurie Thomas, assistant director of facilities management program development. "Carlotta is friendly, outgoing and always willing to help anyone out. She keeps things running smoothly and has a strong work ethic."
Hensler said, "I really enjoy working for the University and helping keep campus operations running smoothly. I have met some great people and continue to enjoy making an impact on the University."
This summer Hensler will be on an adventure of another sort. She has a cross-country road trip planned, exploring the western United States, with her 14-year-old son.
"I'm really looking forward to it. I just can't wait! We'll be hitting up some great places. Our first stop will be Mount Rushmore and we're going to visit Hoover Dam, California and a bunch of other places. It should be a lot of fun," Hensler said.
