Sesame Street's Elmo will stop by at 5 p.m., David Kaplan will perform at noon and 6 p.m., Christine Lavin will perform at 7 p.m. and Urban Jazz Coalition will perform at 8 p.m. Free and open to all. Ohio University Dining Services will have picnic dinners available for purchase.
Friends of the Libraries Book Sale
June 26 from 7 to 9 p.m.; June 27-28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Alden Library, 7th Floor
The Friends of the Libraries present their Summer Book Sale. Friday and Saturday all books cost $1 and the price drops to $3 per bag on Saturday after 1 p.m. At Thursday's pre-sale, all books are $2 with a limit of 50 books. Free and open to the public. Red Cross Blood Drive

The need for blood doesn't diminish when the students leave. You can help the Red Cross meet this urgent need by giving just an hour of your time to donate blood. And all donors get a free t-shirt. Donors should bring a picture ID and must be in general good health, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be at least 17 years of age. "bLue trAin" by Guy Goodwin

Adleta Galleries, Canaanville
"bLue trAin" features drawings and paintings by the internationally exhibited, post-minimalist artist and Chauncey resident, Guy Goodwin. The opening will be celebrated with the artist, along with DJs, dancing, Big Chimney breads and cheeses and refreshing libations. Quilt National '03

The Dairy Barn
Quilt National is a biennial exhibition of innovative, contemporary art quilts. This exhibition demonstrates the transformations taking place in the world of quilt art and features artists from around the world. Every Wednesday night, you can enjoy music under the trees. The Under the Elms concert series continues with guest conductor Ronald Socciarelli. Bring lawn chairs or blankets and get comfy under the stars. Free and open to all and the Athens Restaurant Association will have picnic dinners available for purchase.
"Driving Miss Daisy"
June 26-28 and July 3-5 at 8 p.m., June 29 and July 6 at 2 p.m.
Forum Theater, RTVC Building
The Ohio Valley Summer Theater opens its 2003 season with "Driving Miss Daisy." The Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning play by Alfred Uhry is being directed by Ohio University Associate Professor of Theater Laura Parrotti. Tickets are $12 for the general public, $9 for senior citizens and $7 for students and are available at the Fine Arts Ticket Office in Kantner Hall. Second City Comedy Group
June 28 at 8 p.m.
Majestic Theatre, 45 E. Second Street, downtown Chillicothe
The world-renowned touring company "Second City" will be performing at the Majestic Theatre. This special appearance is being presented by Ohio University Chillicothe Campus' Theater Department and is supported in part by a grant from the Ross-Chillicothe Convention and Visitors Bureau. The comedy troupe is famous for its alumni, which includes the Belushi Brothers, John Candy, Chris Farley, Mike Myers, Joan Rivers and Martin Short. All proceeds will benefit the OU-C Theater program's scholarship fund and the Majestic Theatre. Tickets are available from Ohio University-Chillicothe, Horizon, Ross-Chillicothe Convention and Visitors Bureau, Chillicothe Ross Chamber of Commerce and E.M. Smith Jewelers. Tickets are $20 for adults and $12 for students with ID. The Second City group will be presenting three workshops for area theater students and actors.
