    "Circus Beckett"
    The College of Fine Arts presents "Circus Beckett." The performance will run Wednesday, May 22, through Saturday, May 25, at the Forum Theater. There also will be a matinee on May 25 at 2 p.m.

    Annual Seabury Quinn Jr., Playwrights' Festival
    Hear the works of student playwrights read/produced and responded to by guest mentors Quincy Long, Chuck Smith and Caridad Svich. Readings/Performances will take place Thursday, May 23, through Saturday, May 25, at 1, 3 and 8 p.m. All events are free and open to the public!

    Free jazz concert

    A familiar face is returning to the area with his jazz band, The MUV-MeNT, to provide a free concert at Ohio University-Zanesville's Elson Hall Auditorium at noon on Thursday, May 23.

    Drummer James Gaiters, Jr., a 1987 graduate of Zanesville High School, will perform with band members Edwin Bayard on tenor saxophone, Lovell Bradford on piano and Dean Hulett on bass. The MUV-MeNT, formerly known as The James Gaiters/Edwin Bayard Quartet, has also recently released its first recording "Looking Back Ahead" on Gaiters' own record label, Sweeng Tyme Music.

    Student exhibition of research and creative work to be held May 31
    Recipients of several Ohio University student award programs will present their research, scholarship and creative work during an exhibition from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, May 31, on the second floor of Clippinger Hall.

    About 35 undergraduate, graduate and medical students will present the results of their research or creative activities, all supported by grants from such university funding programs as the Student Enhancement Awards, Houk Award, Research Apprenticeship program in the Honors Tutorial College, Provost Undergraduate Research Fund and Voinovich Center Research and Technical Assistance Experience for undergraduate and graduate students program. Students, faculty, staff and members of the general public are invited to attend.

    A jury of faculty members that consists of Presidential Research Scholars and members of the University's Council for Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity will award a $500 prize to the best presentation in six categories: Outstanding Undergraduate Student Enhancement Award Presentation, Outstanding Graduate/Medical Student Enhancement Award Presentation, Outstanding Houk Award Presentation, Outstanding Provost Undergraduate Research Fellow Presentation, Outstanding Research Apprenticeship Presentation and Outstanding Voinovich Program Presentation.

    Athens Community Music School Summer Sessions

    First Session registration June 4 to 14
    Second Session registration July 8 to 11.

    Teen voice class (for teens with minimal vocal experience)
    Class will include basic vocal skills and music reading using beginning music levels.
    Five weeks, Mondays and Wednesdays from 5 to 6 p.m.
    Ages 13 to 18
    Class starts June 10
    Cost: $88

    Continuing teen voice class (for teens with previous vocal lessons or experience)
    This class will continue with vocal skills and music reading using various levels of music.
    Five weeks, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 6 p.m.
    Ages 13-18
    Class starts June 11.
    Cost: $88
