WOUB/WOUC-TV recently received a 2002 Midwestern Regional Emmy Award from The Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) for "Hey, What's That?," a project designed for school-age children.
"Hey, What's That?" is a series of short educational spots which feature children from around the region who investigate historical, natural, or unique places or things specific to their area. WOUB/WOUC-TV's initial proposal led to 45 schools from southeast Ohio contacting the station about participating in this new project. Five schools were selected based on locations, diversity and age groups.
David Luce, WOUB interim producer/director, and Jessica Street, Ohio University Learning Network operations supervisor and host for "Hey, What's That?," were presented Emmys at the NATAS awards ceremony. Other participants in the project were Elizabeth Eugenio, Kevin Rusnak, Rachel Young, Eric Jones, Mike Anzalone, Suzanne Roberts and Mark Brewer.
The NATAS Regional Emmy Awards recognize outstanding achievements in television by conferring annual awards of merit in the chapter's designated award region. The presentation of these awards is intended to be an incentive for the continued pursuit of excellence for those working in the television industry and to focus public attention on outstanding cultural, educational, technological, entertainment, news and informational achievements in television.
