Religion studies courses move to Classics

Students interested in taking religion studies courses will now need to register through the Classics department instead of Philosophy. Preregistration for fall quarter begins May 19. Many courses formerly taught in Philosophy will be listed under "Classics and World Religions."

Four faculty members from Philosophy are joining Classics faculty to form the newly named Classics and World Religions department.

The prerequisites for upper-level courses in world religions can be fulfilled by the religion classes with their old Philosophy numbers. The registrar's computers automatically equate the old and new numbers. If students do not have these prerequisites, however, it may be possible to get permission to register for these classes. Advising and permissions will be available through Classics, Ellis Hall, Room 210, or call (740) 597-2100.

Also a new major in world religions is being developed and may be available in the next academic year.

For more information, contact George Weckman at (740) 593-4594 or weckman@ohio.edu.
