ATHENS, Ohio (Aug. 6, 2004) -- Larry A. Corrigan has been named interim vice president for finance and administration at Ohio University effective Sept. 1, 2004. He is currently the associate vice president for finance and treasurer.
He replaces Gary North, who will retire on Aug. 27 after 15 years of service. A national search to find a permanent vice president for administration and finance will begin in the fall with an expected start date of July 1, 2005.
"The wealth of experience and insight that Larry Corrigan brings to this important role is truly a very valuable asset for Ohio University," said Ohio University President Roderick McDavis. "I am very pleased that Larry will be joining our leadership team and his breadth and scope of expertise will serve us well in an area that includes so many vital operations of the institution. We will benefit not only from his knowledge of the University, but his proven ability to promote teamwork and broad-based support for our initiatives."
The interim vice president for finance and administration is responsible for supervising the following areas: Administrative Services (Assessment and Evaluation, Budget and Planning), Division of Finance (Assistant Vice President for Finance, Assistant Treasurer, Bursar, Foundation Accounting), Enrollment Services (Admissions, Student Financial Aid and Scholarships), Facilities and Auxiliaries (Facilities Management, Housing and Dining Services, Baker Center Food Service, Campus Services), Facilities Planning and Construction (Space Management, Capital Construction), University Professional Development, the Office of the Registrar and University Services (Campus Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Workers Compensation Administration, University Human Resources).
The position also serves as a liaison to Administrative Senate and has more than 1,000 employees and an annual budget of more than $100 million.
In May 2003, Corrigan was named associate director for finance and treasurer. In that role, his office is responsible for managing Ohio University's financial resources by developing, analyzing and maintaining the university's budgeting, accounting and reporting procedures and systems. Previously, he held the title of assistant vice president for finance.
"I'm certainly gratified by the confidence that Dr. McDavis has expressed in my abilities and I look forward to playing an ongoing and significant role in advancing our learning mission through the various functions provided by the areas of administration and finance," said Corrigan. "The responsibilities are certainly challenging, but I look forward to the opportunity to provide guidance and direction on key issues that face our institution in the months ahead."
Corrigan, who graduated from Ohio University in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in finance, has worked at Ohio University for more than 32 years. He is also a certified public accountant.
