ATHENS, Ohio (Aug. 5, 2004) -- This year hundreds of Southeastern Ohioans will enjoy exciting contests, delicious food and animal showings; and be able to receive free health screenings at the 153rd Athens County Fair. On Thursday, Aug. 12, Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine's Community Service Programs will provide free glucose, cholesterol and blood pressure screenings for adults from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the fairgrounds.
Appointments are not required and fasting before receiving a screening is not necessary. CSP will provide the screenings in its Mobile Health Unit, which will be parked near the Junior Fair Building.
"I'm just delighted that we're able to provide these screenings to the community," said Kathy Trace, director of CSP.
In addition to these free health screenings, area-wide services provided by CSP include the Childhood Immunization Program, the Healthy Adult Program, the Perinatal Services/Baby Steps Program, the Well Child Program, the Healthy Child Care Ohio Nurse Consultants, the Well Child/Well Families program, the Healthy Families program and the AmeriCorps program.
