President Robert Glidden's sense of humor, candor and integrity are perhaps best illustrated by stories others tell. For instance, AFSCME Local 1699 President Charlie Adkins wasn't surprised when, at an employee appreciation event, Glidden poked fun at him about a labor issue in front of his union peers as well as administrators, faculty and other employees. He knew he had the freedom to dish it right back when it was his turn at the podium.
"A few weeks ago," he told the crowd, "I was at a meeting up to Hocking College and someone introduced me as the president of Ohio University. A lady in the crowd says something like, 'He's younger and more handsome than I thought.'"
