The Office of Student Activities and the Ohio University Alumni Association have teamed up to offer an exciting leadership opportunity to a select number of outstanding students.
The Ohio University LeaderShape Institute is a six-day leadership development experience designed to help participants learn to "lead with integrity." The program content reflects key leadership issues, including vision, partnerships, integrity and results.
While at the Institute, participants will:
- Learn to work in high-performance teams.
- Practice decision-making for ethical dilemmas.
- Learn to deal with change.
- Clarify personal values and standards.
- Understand and respect the values of other individuals.
All faculty and staff are encouraged to nominate outstanding students. In order to be considered, nominees must complete the required application which can be downloaded from www.ohiou.edu/stuactivities/leaders/index.htm. All application materials are due to the Office of Student Activities in 204 Baker University Center by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 2.
Approximately 60 Ohio University students will be selected to participate in the program scheduled to take place Sept. 1 to 6 at Burr Oak Resort and Conference Center. There is no charge associated with the conference. However, a $100 deposit will be required from each participant to secure a space in the Institute. Participants who successfully complete the Institute will be refunded their deposit.
The screening committee will comprise Ohio University students, faculty and staff and members of the community appointed by the director of Student Activities.
All nominations/applications will be considered utilizing the following criteria. In order to be considered, students must demonstrate:
- Successful completion of at least two consecutive quarters of coursework on the Athens campus.
- Evidence of meaningful leadership in the university community for at least two consecutive quarters.
- Good standing with the University judicial system at the time of application.
- A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 at the time of application.
