Ohio University Residence Services and Computer Services collaborated to create the Online Room Selection system. The system will enable current Ohio University students to go online to select not only the residence hall they want to live in, but also the specific room. There are online diagrams of each residence hall, which allows students to see where each room is located without visiting the hall.
"This online system is wonderful and convenient," said Director of Business and Residence Services Christine Sheets. "Not only can students choose the room they want to live in, they can also make adjustments to their original request, such as adding or dropping requested roommates."
Students who wish to select a different room in their current residence hall or residence hall group will be able to use the new Online Room Selection system located at www.facilities.ohiou.edu/housing/ucrs for the first time on April 27.
Residence Services is responsible for administering all Ohio University housing policies and regulations, including housing assignments in the residence halls and apartment rentals. It oversees the operation of 41 residence halls housing approximately 7,500 undergraduate and graduate students and 199 family apartments. The switch to online contracts for students living on campus is the next technological advancement being planned by the department.
