ATHENS, Ohio (May 18, 2004) -- The Ohio Educational Telecommunications (OET) Network Commission recently recognized WOUB Radio with two awards in honor of the series "This Time Around: Reinventing Community."
"This Time Around: Reinventing Community," produced by award-winning radio producer Sandra Sleight-Brennan, won a first place honor in the "News and Public Affairs Award" category for "Spot News and Magazine Programs" as well as the "Program of the Year Award." The year-long series explores the fabric of community, how and why communities change, and what the future may hold for Appalachian Ohio. Features focus on communities within the WOUB Radio Network coverage area and includes four quarterly call-in discussion programs. A companion website is available at: www.thistimearound.org and allows community members to interact online.
The OET awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday, May 25, at the Capitol Club in Columbus. OET serves to promote the growth and development of telecommunications in Ohio. The OET Awards have recognized excellence in Ohio public telecommunications programs and projects annually since 1977.
