Ohio University Business and Residence Services hosted the Conferences and Meetings Resource Fair on Oct. 22, at Bromley Hall and the event went off without a hitch.
The second-year event gave many Ohio University departments and auxiliaries an opportunity to create awareness about their products and services to the local and campus communities.
"This year's Resource Fair drew more than twice the amount of visitors as last year's," said Ohio University Director of Conference Services and Dining Beverley Wyatt. "We had more than 200 people pass through today, so I am pleased that we accomplished one of our main goals of increasing attendance. Even more encouraging is the fact that we saw many new faces this year and increasing awareness of the many services available on campus is our ultimate goal."
The only non-University vendors in attendance were the Ohio University Inn and the Athens County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
"The traffic throughout the event was steady," Athens County Convention and Visitors Bureau Marketing Director Crystal Krason said. "I fielded lots of questions and it was great publicity for the Visitors Bureau."
Ohio University's Department of Athletics attended the fair for the first time to pass out basketball ticket brochures and to promote Athletics events as a great place to host a party for employees.
"We hope every department on campus considers Bobcat basketball games as a potential site for employee gatherings," said Ohio University Director of Marketing Luke Sayers. "I was pleased with the exposure we received from the event."
"Overall, I thought it was a nice event," Wyatt said. "Next year, our goal is to build upon this year's success and to increase the number of vendors and visitors."
