- Recognitions
- MARY DILLON, MARK KRUMEL, STACEY RILEY PUGH, TRACY CORRIGAN, GARY KIRKSEY and BRIAN STEMEN, university communications and marketing, received a silver medal as the creative team for the total public relations program "What's in Your Future?" They also received a medal of merit for that campaign in the Total Student Recruitment category. The award was received at the 18th Annual Admissions Advertising Awards Contest, sponsored by The Admissions Marketing Report. PUGH, DILLON, STEMEN and SALLY LINDER, university communications and marketing, also received a silver medal as the creative team for the publication "Innovation Center Takes Off." This is the third straight year that Ohio University Communications and Marketing has captured top honors at the contest.
- KATHY KRENDL, College of Communication, moderated a panel on "Sex, Women and the Media" on Feb. 6 at Indiana University. The panel was part of the Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender and Reproduction's 50th anniversary commemoration of "Sexual Behavior in the Human Female."
- TERESA TRUSSEL, parking services, and RUTH MCCALL-KING, general accounting and financial reporting, were honored as the January and February Classified Senate Employees of the Month. TRUSSEL has worked in parking services for three years and was recognized for her attitude, professionalism, innovation, problem solving, customer service and ability to work well under pressure and demand. MCCALL-KING was recognized for being detail oriented and extremely customer focused.

- JUN LI and DAVID DRABOLD, physics and astronomy, co-wrote "Observation of Light Polarization-Dependent Structural Changes in Chalcogenide Glasses" in Applied Physics Letters, Vol. 82, 2003.
- ARTHUR MARINELLI, management systems, wrote "Legal Issues Dealing with Arbitration in International Contracts" in the International Business Trends of the Academy of Business Administration, 2003.
- ANDREA BAKER, Ohio University-Lancaster campus, wrote "Links" in The Encyclopedia of New Media, 2002.
JOHN W. BAGNOLE and JOHN W. MILLER, Ohio Program of Intensive English, co-wrote "An Interactive Information Literacy Course for International Students: A Practical Blueprint for ESL Learners" in Teaching English as a Second Language - Electronic Journal, Vol. 6, 2003.
MARK SHATZ, psychology - Zanesville campus, wrote "Teaching Thanatology in a Foreign Country: Implications for Death Educators" in Death Studies, Vol. 26, 2002.

- TERRY HOGAN, student affairs, wrote and presented "Reducing High Risk College Drinking: What's Happening in Ohio" at a meeting of the Ohio College Personnel Association in Columbus, Ohio in February 2003.
- TIMOTHY G. ANDERSON, geography, wrote and presented "Conceptualizing Process in 'American Exceptionalism' Meta-Theory" at a meeting of the Eastern Historical Geographers Association in St. Augustine, Fla. in February 2003.
- CHRISTOPHER G. BOONE, geography, wrote and presented "Politics of Infrastructure Provision in the Most Northerly Southern City: Explaining the Delay in Sewer Construction in Baltimore, 1850-1905" at a meeting of the Eastern Historical Geographers Association in St. Augustine, Fla. in February 2003.
