Jacob Lawrence: A Panel Discussion

Join panelists Vibert Cambridge, African American Studies; Jennifer McLerran, Kennedy Museum of Art, Thomas Patin, art history; and Robert Peppers, painting for a lively discussion highlighting the life and work of this renowned African-American artist. One of the world's greatest living tap dancers, Tony-award winner Gregory Hines has enthralled audiences with his adept footwork, fluid rhythm and enviable style of dance. The stage of Memorial Auditorium will be graced with a superstar and a legend in this once-in-a-lifetime performance. Cost: student $15, senior $27, general $30.

Film at 5: "Clando"
March 14 at 5 p.m.

"Clando," directed by Jean-Marie Teno, tells the story of Sobgui, a former computer programmer, whose life has collapsed after his arrest and torture for minor involvement with an anti-government student group. Reduced to driving a clando (gypsy cab) he eagerly accepts the opportunity to go to Germany to buy cabs and find the son of the taxi fleet owner. Together they return to Cameroon with the hopes of taking back their country. Contact: Polly Sandenburgh at (740) 597-2756.

Some of the industry's best will give sessions that are sure to enlighten and entertain. Session tracks include design, development and infrastructure. Ben Forta, senior product evangelist for Macromedia, will kick off the event with a key note address. The conference is a day packed full of information and demonstrations, and an opportunity to meet and network with other web technology professionals and gurus. Diabetes, cholesterol and blood pressure screenings

Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine's Community Service Programs will provide diabetes, cholesterol and blood pressure screening along with other health information. Art on View/Governor's Youth Art Show
March 22 through April 27
Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.
The Dairy Barn
Art on View is a regional juried exhibition that includes artists from Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Kentucky. This showcases the best work of artists living and working within a 200-mile radius of Athens. The Governor's Youth Art Show is an opportunity for regional youth artists to display their work for the public. Cost: general $3, seniors $2.50, children under 12 free.
