Ohio University's Voinovich Center for Leadership and Public Affairs has just received the PTAC "Outstanding Host" award for 2002 from the Ohio Procurement Technical Assistance Program (OPTAP). The Voinovich Center is the host for the Appalachian Procurement Technical Assistance Center (Appalachian PTAC).
The Appalachian PTAC provides businesses in southeastern Ohio with resources, guidance and information about marketing their products to local, state and federal government agencies. Last year the Appalachian PTAC helped companies secure government contracts totaling $16.2 million.
Award recipients are judged on merit and dedication to the OPTAP mission. OPTAP Director Eric Van Otteren said the Voinovich Center was the clear choice for the award based on the detailed criteria of the peer review committee.
"We really appreciate the commitment that the Voinovich Center has made to the Appalachian Procurement Technical Assistance Center," Van Otteren said, "and we look forward to even greater things from our relationship down the line. I think it's a fine match."
The Voinovich Center extends knowledge and resources beyond Ohio University's campus to people in government, education, business and public organizations by providing applied research, training, technical assistance and innovative solutions that make a difference, particularly in Appalachian Ohio.
