If you have a few moments to spare between classes, appointments, or meetings, spend them in the Alden Library Archives, where a breathtaking exhibit is winding down.
The exhibit, "Some Leaves and Books From the 15th and 16th Centuries," was curated by Special Collections Librarians Sheppard Black and Judith Connick. They selected a "small sample" from the University's Rare Books and Special Collections, including the Gilbert and Ursula Farfel Collection, to illustrate the history of the book -- from hand written manuscripts through the evolution of printed books. On view are classics by Virgil, Egyptian hieroglyphics, botanical notes, and stunningly beautiful illuminated pages from breviary, bibles and manuscripts‹all from the 15th and 16th century.
The exhibit is on the 5th floor, Alden Library. It is open during library hours and runs through March 24. For more information, call (740) 597-1771.
