University regulations regarding concealed gun law
With Ohio House Bill 12, which allows citizens to carry concealed handguns, becoming law April 8, it is appropriate to outline the limitations associated with the legislation in regards to Ohio University students, faculty staff and visitors.
It remains unlawful for anyone except licensed law enforcement officers to carry a handgun on property owned or leased by the university.
Universities are among a number of places that are considered “forbidden carry zones.”
Licensees are required to secure handguns in motor vehicles, such as in the glove box, while on university property.
Signs will be posted on university property regarding the new law.
