New guidelines set for internal funding programs

The Office for the Vice President for Research has updated some of the guidelines for its internal funding programs and advises prospective applicants to visit the Web site for the latest information. Most of the application deadlines are during winter quarter.
Following is a list of the internal funding programs with updated guidelines, along with each program's deadlines and contact information:
- Baker Fund Awards Committee
Competitive awards of up to $12,000 to support research, scholarship and creative activity. The application deadline is 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 7. For more information, contact Carma West at 740-593-1007 or westc@ohio.edu.
- Ohio University Research Committee (OURC)
Competitive awards of up to $8,000 to support research, scholarship and creative activities. The application deadline is 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28. For more information, contact Carma West at 740-593-1007 or westc@ohio.edu.
- University Postdoctoral Fellowships
Competitive awards of up to $25,000 (including fringe benefits) available upon application by a university faculty member/principal investigator. Two fellowships are awarded each review cycle. Next deadline is 4 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 4. For more information, contact Carma West at 740-593-1007 or westc@ohio.edu.
- Student Enhancement Awards
Competitive awards to support undergraduate, graduate, and medical student research, scholarship, and creative activities. Awards of up to $6,000 support research and travel for a student and mentor to attend a professional meeting to present results. The application deadline is 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18. - 1804 Fund
The fund was established by the Ohio University Foundation. Proposals should be linked to the university's commitments, as outlined in Vision OHIO, to maintaining and enhancing a learning-centered community. The fund promotes collaboration among units. The fund focuses its support through two fund categories:

- Faculty Research and Graduate Studies
Supports research, scholarly activities and innovations in graduate education. Guidelines are distributed at preliminary discussions with the Vice President for Research which must be take place prior to March 15. Awards are announced in August. - Undergraduate Learning
Supports curricular innovations, programs and activities that enhance the undergraduate educational experience. Forms and guidelines are distributed at preliminary discussions with the dean which must take place prior to March 15. Awards are announced in August.
