After hosting an Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) informational session on Jan. 27, Classified Senate will host two additional OPERS informational sessions on Thursday in Walter Hall 135.
The sessions are scheduled to start at 5:15 p.m. and 7 p.m. and are free and open to the public.
During the sessions, OPERS Director of External Relations Carol Drake will share the latest news regarding proposed changes to the OPERS retirement plan before taking questions from the audience. Classified Senate members will be available after the session to answer additional questions.
The OPERS Board of Trustees proposed significant changes to the OPERS retirement plan in November 2009 after considering recommendations from the Ohio Retirement Study Council, an oversight committee made up of state legislators. The proposed changes are being considered by state legislators and could be voted on in the coming months.
OPERS has more than 166,000 retirees and 356,000 active public workers in its system.
Video and a PowerPoint presentation from the Jan. 27 OPERS informational session are available on the Classified Senate Web site.
