Undergraduate Admissions launches new Facebook and Twitter sites

Undergraduate Admissions recently launched a new Facebook page that allows people to stay connected with Ohio University via photos, videos, and updates.
Katie Troyer, admissions advisor for communication, said the page was created because Facebook was found to be the most popular social media outlet among prospective college students and their families according to a survey conducted last summer and fall.
The university surveyed approximately 1,500 students and their families during campus visits, which included OHIO Discovery Days and OHIO Summer Showcase.
"We made the decision to launch a Facebook fan page to facilitate more personalized connections with our target audience, which is newly admitted students," Troyer said. "We can communicate with them on a daily basis by utilizing a media platform that students are already using on a consistent basis."
Troyer said the Facebook fan page will soon launch a quick-take video series in a Q-and-A format that will give prospective students more insight into what life is like as an OHIO student. The video series will also provide information on the admissions process.
