On Monday afternoon, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Local 1699 approved a new collective bargaining agreement with Ohio University that continues through February 2013.
The new agreement was announced to the campus community through an e-mail from President Roderick J. McDavis. In the e-mail, McDavis thanked both sides of the negotiating process when he wrote, "I offer my sincere gratitude to the members of the negotiating teams, both those who represented Ohio University and those who represented Local 1699. Their dedicated work yielded an agreement that honors the valued contributions of our employees while recognizing the challenges of the fiscal environment the University faces."
