The Office of Career Services is hosting its annual Winter Career and Internship Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2, in the Baker University Center Ballroom.
Approximately 75 employers will be present, including American Greetings Corporation, AT&T, GBQ Partners LLC, Marathon Oil Company, Nationwide and the Sherwin Williams Company. Students are required to dress professionally and should bring copies of their resumes along with their university ID cards.
Assistant Director of Career Services Kristine Hoke said there are three top reasons for students to attend the career fair.
"First, there is definitely the possibility of job leads for full-time jobs and internships," Hoke said. "Second, it’s great practice for networking, how to be professional, and how to prepare documents for a career search. And third, typically it is the same companies that come back each year, which enables students to start building relationships with the employers for when they graduate."
All students and OHIO alumni are welcome to attend and there is no registration necessary. While there are typically more upperclassmen at the event, there are also great advantages for first- and second-year students who attend because they can receive valuable information on internships, seasonal positions and summer jobs, Hoke added.
As preparation for future career fairs or other career opportunities, Career Services offers a variety of services, including "career makeovers," which are focused on helping students develop interviewing skills and craft quality resumes. The office is also offering a Tool Kit Tuesday workshop series with sessions that cover topics such as interviews, resumes and professionalism.
"If you take the time to use the resources offered, it will definitely be beneficial to you in the long run," said Career Services PACE student Niki Bair.
Students can also set up appointments for career counseling and mock interviews. For more information, or to see a full list of the Winter Career and Internship Fair employers, visit www.ohio.edu/careers/.
