Mentors wanted for Leadership Mentoring Program
Jan 18, 2010
From staff reports
The Amanda J. Cunningham Leadership Center is seeking faculty, staff and upperclassman mentors for the new Ohio University Leadership Mentoring Program.
The Ohio University Leadership Mentoring Program is designed to provide first-year students with a chance to form deep connections with experienced faculty, staff and students of the Ohio University and Athens community, while learning the deeper values and attributes of effective leadership as they relate to the student's personal experiences.
Mentoring programs provide first-year students with the guidance and support they need to be successful in college and beyond. Mentorship facilitates personal and professional growth through self-discovery and the development of meaningful bonds with people who understand this important time in the mentees' lives. Similarly, becoming a mentor provides the special opportunity to give back and contribute not only to the future of the student but to the Ohio University and greater community.
Mentors will also receive training in leadership coaching. The mentoring schedule is set independently by the mentor and mentee. All inquiries can be sent to leadership@ohio.edu.
Mentor and mentee applications are available at www.ohio.edu/campuslife/leadership/mentoring.cfm. Interested parties are asked to apply by Feb. 15.
