Jan 20, 2010
From staff reports
The city of Athens will host a town hall meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26. All Athens-area community members are encouraged to attend the "open-mic" meeting that will be held at the Athens Community Center on E. State St.
The January Town Hall Meeting is an opportunity for community members and organizations to engage in dialogue with each other and with the city government. During the meeting, Athens-area residents are invited to speak on any subject of local interest.
Athens Mayor Paul Wiehl and members of the city administration will be present to ask clarifying questions and briefly respond if necessary. To allow as many viewpoints as possible to be heard, speakers are limited to two minutes each.
Topics brought up at the January meeting will be reviewed by the city and steps taken to address top issues will be presented at the June Athens Town Hall Meeting.
In the event of inclement weather, the meeting will be postponed until Feb. 4.
