Editor's note: This is the eighth installment of a student-led series highlighting the resources Ohio University and the surrounding community offer to promote healthy lifestyles. This week, the spotlight is on the Charles J. Ping Center, the university's student recreation center.
The Charles J. Ping Student Recreation Center is Ohio University's largest recreation facility and offers recreational and wellness opportunities. The facility mainly serves students, but memberships are available to faculty, staff, alumni and community members. It also serves as home base for the Ohio University Fitness Program and Outdoor Pursuits.
From general recreation -- basketball, volleyball, table tennis -- to aerobics classes and an indoor climbing wall, the Ping Center offers chances for fun and exercise for the entire Ohio University community. The facility is open seven days a week.
The Ping Center is committed to improving the quality of life for members of the OHIO community and providing learning and employment experiences for students. The diverse activities and facilities encourage physical, emotional and social growth of those who participate by helping them to develop skills and positive attitudes.
