Bird Ice Arena is Ohio University’s indoor ice facility and offers recreational and wellness opportunities for students, faculty, staff and community members. From general recreation, including free skates and recreational hockey, to academic classes, to learn to skate programs, Bird Arena offers chances for fun and exercise for the entire Ohio University community.
The facility is open from early October to March, and, while open, runs programming most days from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. Additionally, Bird Arena is home ice for three-time American Collegiate Hockey Association national champions, the Ohio University ice hockey club team*.
While icy activities may not be what the average OHIO community member thinks of as exercise, the varied programs Bird Arena offers gives students and staff a unique way to work muscles they may not normally use while having fun.
Bird Arena is committed to improving the quality of life for OHIO students, faculty, staff and their families. It is also committed to providing quality learning and employment experiences for students. The diverse activities and facilities encourage physical, emotional and social growth of those who participate by helping them to develop skills and positive attitudes.
