The College of Business Select Leadership Development Program (SLDP) has evolved into what is now one of the most comprehensive leadership opportunities for students at Ohio University. Structured around a three-year course of seminars, assessments, projects, networking events and executive engagement sessions, the SLDP accelerates leadership and builds identity for high potential students within the College of Business.
The program helps students shape their leadership identity through a three-phase process of discovery, application and evolution. Students are given the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of leadership through a series of individual assessments, workshops, benchmarking and a comprehensive study of various leadership modules.
Students are then able to apply their discoveries by attending various networking events, seminars and working alongside their peers. Most importantly, the Select Leadership Development Program allows students to evolve in their leadership identities through continuous improvement in executive engagement sessions, leadership mentoring, and coaching workshops.
Students leave the program equipped with a unique leadership portfolio and education on ethical principles with a self awareness that is unlike any other leadership initiative on campus.
“I can’t imagine how different my view of leadership would be without this program. Companies are looking for leaders, and this program is preparing us to take control in the future by helping us develop on a personal and professional level, today,” said Jordan Shirkman, a junior studying marketing.
Jordan is only one example of the select group of students in this remarkable program that are transforming leadership at Ohio University.
