Join a sustainability working group
Dec 7, 2009
From staff reports
Ohio University faculty, staff and students and local community members are invited to volunteer to serve on a sustainability working group.
Since July 2009, the President's Advisory Council for Sustainability Planning has been working to develop a comprehensive sustainability plan for the university. This plan will be designed to provide the university with direction and a set of priorities to accelerate the institution's progress to becoming a greener, more ecologically responsive entity.
Currently, working groups are being formed that will deal with university operational areas and develop objectives and strategies within those areas which relate to OHIO's overall sustainability goals. Working groups are as follows:
- Academics and Curriculum
- Low- and No-Cost Energy Conservation
- Dining
- Transportation
- Procurement
- Energy Infrastructure/Utilities
- Fundraising and Endowment
- Buildings and Grounds
Achieving a balance of students, staff, faculty and community members will be one of the groups' goals to ensure that critical knowledge areas and relevant skills are well represented.
Please consider volunteering to be considered for appointment to a working group. Those who are interested in serving should e-mail sustainability@ohio.edu indicating the group(s) for which they would like to be considered. Meetings will be held every two weeks in the winter and spring quarters. The launch of the groups will be staggered and some may not actually begin until March or later.
Final appointments are tentatively scheduled to take place during the second half of December.
For more information, contact Sustainability Coordinator Sonia Marcus at marcuss@ohio.edu or 740-593-0026 and visit www.ohio.edu/sustainability.
