University Communications and Marketing (UCM) continues to meet the challenges of a changing university head on, providing excellence in written, visual and graphic communications.
Throughout winter quarter, UCM fulfilled its mission of keeping the OHIO community informed through accurate, interesting and high-quality content.
Thanks to the efforts of UCM, those in Athens and on the regional campuses were kept abreast of game-changing university developments, from alumna Violet L. Patton's monumental gifts toward the arts and education to the ongoing discussion and development of the fiscal year 2011 budget.
Beyond regional news, UCM was also able to keep the nation and the greater OHIO community informed of the university's news, achievements and honors, of which there were many this winter.
Below are some of the highlights of the work produced during winter quarter at UCM. The complete Ohio University in the Media report can be found here:
Satellite Truck
The UCM satellite truck covered all home OHIO men’s basketball games, providing video editing and uplinking of highlight tape-feeds to television sports media across the state and nation. On two separate occasions, highlight clips made ESPN Sportcenter’s “Top Ten Plays of the Day” segment.
The satellite truck was also used to transmit the live reaction of the Bobcats’ basketball bracket announcement to a national audience on CBS Sports’ NCAA Basketball Championship Selection Show.
Media Relations
The media relations team fielded more than 300 incoming media requests and distributed 67 press releases. They monitored Ohio University’s profile in the media and catalogued 1,576 media placements.
The team helped spread Ohio University’s mission across the country by organizing and preparing President Roderick J. McDavis’ first national media tour. They also strengthened the university’s connection to other institutions by preparing media materials for The Interlink Alliance conference that was in Atlanta March 19-20.
