The Ohio University community is mourning the loss of student Kurt D. Jacobs, who died in a car crash on Thursday evening near his hometown of North Ridgeville, Ohio.
Jacobs, 21, was a senior in the College of Business with a double major in finance and management information systems. He was scheduled to graduate in June.
"We are deeply saddened by this loss," said Dean of Students Ryan Lombardi. "It is always tragic to lose a member of our student community at such a young age. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Kurt’s family and friends."
Chris Moberg, chair of the Marketing Department, supervised Jacobs last summer during a College of Business Global Consulting Program study abroad trip to Barcelona, Spain. As part of the GCP, Ohio University students spend two weeks abroad working with international students to develop solutions for problems faced by local businesses.
"He seemed like a genuine kid who was very respectful," said Moberg. "When you spent time with him, his politeness and thoughtfulness and quiet integrity shone through."
