Recognitions

LENA WRIGHT MYERS, sociology, was elected to membership of the Editorial Board for the Journal of Teaching Sociology by the American Sociological Association. She will serve until Dec. 31, 2005.

SHANE GILKEY was named director of budget, planning and research, and sponsored programs. In this new position, GILKEY oversees the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs and manages budget and planning issues for the division.

KEVIN YATES was hired as the budget and planning analyst for the vice president for research in January 2003. YATES previously worked for an accounting firm in Lancaster and as a financial analyst for American Electric Power.

PATRICIA A. LEIB was hired as the grants and contracts manager proposal preparation for the vice president for research. LEIB previously worked at the Edison Biotechnology Institute as a grant contract administrator.

JOHN F. REIGER, history, had a revised edition of "American Sportsmen and the Origins of Conservation" published by Oregon State University Press, Corvallis, Ore., 2001.

EARLE HUNT, physics and astronomy/condensed matter and surface sciences, and Normand Mousseau, Sergei Simdyankin and Marc-Andre Brere of the Universite de Montreal, Canada, co-wrote "Glassy Dynamics in Arrays of Chaotic Oscillators," which Mousseau presented at the 7th Experimental Chaos Conference in San Diego, Calif. in August 2002.

STEPHEN M. REILLY and AUDRONE R. BIKNEVICIUS co-wrote "Integrating Mechanics and Kinematic Gaits in Tetrapod Locomotion: Congruence and Variation in 'Walking' and 'Running'," which REILLY presented at a meeting of the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology in Toronto, Canada, in January 2003. REILLY, BIKNEVICIUS, A.R. LAMMERS, K.D. EARLS, N.J. STEVENS, graduate students, and A.J. PARCHMAN, undergraduate student, co-wrote "The Effects of Incline on Limb Forces in a Quadrupedal Mammal," which LAMMERS presented at a meeting of the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology in Toronto, Canada, in January 2003.
