ATHENS, Ohio -- A record number of Ohio University students has been recommended to the final round of competition in the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. These 13 students, who have applied to 11 countries, represent programs in four colleges, as well as the Center for International Studies. Last year, seven Ohio University students were recommended to the final round of Fulbright competition.
"Having 13 students advance to the final round of competition is a testament to the quality education that students receive at Ohio University. It also reflects the increasing amount of guidance and support that faculty members are generously offering Fulbright applicants," said Beth Clodfelter, assistant director of the Center for International Studies and Ohio University's U.S. Fulbright Program advisor.
The candidates will each find out between March and June whether they will receive a Fulbright award. Those who do receive the award will spend the 2004-2005 academic year abroad working on projects funded by the Fulbright program.
