40 Ohio University employees recognized for years of service

Ohio University honored 40 of its veteran classified employees at the 33rd Annual Service Awards Program on Monday, Nov. 18, at the Baker University Center Ballroom. The bargaining and non-bargaining classified employees recognized had achieved 25, 30 or 35-year service milestones this year.

Speakers at the ceremony included Ohio University President Robert Glidden, Vice President for Administration Gary North and Assistant Vice President for University Human Resources Jim Kemper, while Alexis Cline, chair of Classified Senate, and Charlie Adkins, representative of AFSCME, Local 1699, presented the honorees with their gifts.

The Classified Employee Service Awards program started in 1971 and has become an annual event held at the Baker University Center. Classified employees receive a gift for every five years of service, and the gifts include everything from a certificate for five-year employees to an Ohio University black wooden chair, gold pin or charm for employees with 40 years of service.
