Here's a sampling of recent Ohio University mentions in the media:

Thanks to their performance at a recent Virginia-North Carolina football game, the Ohio University Marching 110 has drawn praise from several Virginia newspapers. The Richmond Times Dispatch counts UVA coach Al Groh as loving the 110's show.

"Unsolicited, I had a number of people who had the pleasure of enjoying the Marching 110 mention what a tremendous addition they were to the atmosphere and how enjoyable they were," Groh said.

UVA, who only fields a pep band, could use a full-sized marching band, Groh said. The Roanoke Times also praised the 110, and Virginia native Anthony Hackett's touchdown run for Ohio versus Kent.

The Marching 110, whose members have performed at numerous NFL games and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, will also perform at Walt Disney World and for the Jacksonville Jaguars this December.

Sharon Inman, an Ohio University psychologist, suggests in a recent analysis that the most commonly prescribed post-kidney transplant drug may not be the most effective and may even cause damage. Inman appeared on WBNS-TV in Columbus to share her findings.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Marshall University, impressed with Ohio University's Edison Biotechnology Institute, hopes to turn its own research into marketable products and local jobs.

A recent Charleston Gazette article praised the University's efforts, citing David Scholl's Diagnostic Hybrids as a prime fruit of the school's labor. Scholl's company, which Ohio University nurtured, is now the world's largest provider of cell cultures -- specially-grown cells able to help detect disease. Diagnostic Hybrids is also responsible for 82 jobs complete with health insurance, competitive salaries and other benefits rare for the region."We'd have died without the University," Scholl said.

Ohio University's Zanesville Campus drew praise from the Columbus Dispatch in a recent article about enrollment increases. Renovations, more scholarships and a changing attitude keyed a 17 percent increase, said campus Coordinator of Public Relations Connie Shriver. "There is more focus in this area for students to go to college," she told the Dispatch.

Ohio University's Homecoming win over Eastern Michigan drew praise on WCMH-TV in Columbus. Ohio alumnus Marshal McPeek beamed at the 55-point performance versus the Eagles. Christel Schiering's run towards Ohio's soccer record book garnered the goal-scorer coverage on WKRC-TV in Cincinnati. Scoring ... "It's the simple object of the game of soccer," a reporter said. "To do it as much as possible is the specialty of Ohio University junior Christel Schiering."
