"Passages to Freedom" premiere set
A 30-minute docudrama that will play a critical role in enhancing Ohio and American History curriculum in local schools is set to premiere on Thursday, Nov. 14, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Ohio University-Zanesville's Elson Hall Auditorium, 1425 Newark Road.
The Putnam Underground Railroad Education (PURE) Center's film "Passages to Freedom" brings to life the Underground Railroad heritage of Zanesville and southeastern Ohio and features local community members.
The program for the evening includes an informational session on the PURE Center, the showing of the docudrama, followed by a reception and a musical presentation by the film's soloist, Liesta Walker.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information on the premiere, or to reserve your copy of the video ($15 each) or DVD ($20 each), call (740) 453-5192. Proceeds from the videos and DVDs will benefit the PURE Center.
