> HOME  Medical Center open house Saturday, Oct. 26, 10 a.m. to noon 294 Harper St. in Nelsonville The University Osteopathic Medical Center will welcome the public at a community open house -- National Make A Difference Day -- in celebration of the opening of their newest facility located in Nelsonville. There will be tours, balloons, low-cost flu shots for those in high-risk ($6 donation requested unless covered by Medicare), and healthcare screenings - blood pressure, bood glucose and cholesterol ($5 donation requested for supply costs). Literary readings Wednesday, Oct. 23, 7:30 p.m. Ellis Hall room 113 Award-winning poet Greg Williamson, author of "The Silent Partner" and "Errors in the Script," will read from his work, presented by the English Department's creative writing program. The reading is free and open to the public.Thursday, Oct. 31, 8:30 p.m. Mitchell Auditorium in Seigfred Hall The creative writing program in the English Department will have literary readings to celebrate the launch of Ohio University's new literary magazine "Hotel Amerika." The magazine features the finest in contemporary poetry, fiction and essays from prominent authors. The reading is free and open to the public. Student film premiere Sunday, Oct. 27, 3:00 p.m. The Athena The premiere screening of "Instant Muscles," written and directed by Ohio graduate student Mark Shogren and worked on by many other students in Film, Art and Theater, will be free and open to the public. High-risk flu shot clinics Saturday, Oct. 26, 9 a.m. to noon Athens Community Recreation Center Wednesday, Oct. 30 and Thursday, Oct. 31, 9-11 a.m. University Osteopathic Medical Center The Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine's community service programs will provide flu shots to persons at high risk or with immune system dysfunctions. A $6 donation is requested for each shot, or Medicare can be billed with card. Clinics also will take place at the following times at other locations: 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 24 at the Coolville United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall; 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 25 at the Trimble Township Lions Club in Glouster; and 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 29 at the Lottridge Community Center. | |
