Kennedy to host reception for acclaimed artist tonight Sep 24, 2009
The Kennedy Museum of Art at Ohio University will hold an opening reception tonight, from 6 to 8 p.m., to welcome internationally known artist Mark Dion. Dion is an installation artist who examines the ways in which dominant ideologies and public institutions shape our understanding of history, knowledge and the natural world.
The museum will present "Collections Collected: The University Collects and Athens Collects Miniatures" from Sept. 24 to Nov. 29. Meanwhile, "Mark Dion: Collected Editions 1984-2009" is on display at the university's Trisolini Gallery in Baker University Center through Nov. 14.
Other museum events include brown bag lunch sessions at noon on Oct. 7 and Nov. 4, which will allow the public to meet with local collectors whose miniatures collections will be a part of the exhibition.
