A new policy establishes guidelines for the use of emergency service leave for full- and part-time Ohio University employees.
According to Linda Lonsinger, interim associate vice president for finance and administration for human resources, Ohio University policy 40.024 brings the university into compliance with new provisions in the Ohio Revised Code.
Under the new policy, any university employee who volunteers as an emergency medical technician, first responder, paramedic or volunteer firefighter will receive 40 hours of leave with pay each calendar year to use during those hours when he or she is absent from work to perform those jobs. Part-time employees will receive a prorated benefit.
