Acrobats, machines take Memorial Auditorium stage Oct 17, 2008
Acrobats and early 20th century machines will come together for the Cirque Mechanics' Birdhouse Factory at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium, the close of the Performing Arts Series fall lineup.
Led by former Cirque Du Soleil members, the show combines circus, dance and theater to create a fanciful factory where the workers are acrobats, assembly-line machines power a high-flying trapeze routine and birdhouses are built amid the antics of clowns and contortionists.
The troupe also will perform for more than 1,000 fifth- and sixth-grade area students in a special afternoon performance that day. The Office of University Events is providing transportation for the students as part of its community outreach efforts, said Andrew Holzaepfel, associate director of University Events.
Tickets are $10 for students, $18 for seniors and $20 for general admission. They can be purchased at the Memorial Auditorium ticket office (740-593-1780) or visit www.ohio.edu/performingarts/tickets.cfm.
