Forums set for chief of police finalists Nov 7, 2008
Three finalists for the position of Ohio University chief of police will participate in open forums on the Athens campus this month. The finalists were chosen from a pool of 69 applicants.
The candidates, links to their resumes in PDF format, and forum times and locations are:
- Jane Bird, assistant chief of police at Wright State University, 2:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, Baker University Center 239.
- Andrew Powers, assistant director for emergency preparedness at Miami University, 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, Baker University Center 512.
- Steve Noftz, lieutenant with the Ohio University Police Department, 2:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, Baker University Center 230.
During the forums, the candidates will briefly share their past experiences and qualifications before taking questions from the audience.
Director of Environmental Health and Safety Joe Adams is chairing the search committee. He said the university hopes to have the new chief in place by Jan. 1.
Former Chief Mike Martinsen announced his resignation in August, and Assistant Chief Mark Mathews is serving as the interim chief.
