To keep the public better informed about the novel A H1N1 virus, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is increasing the frequency of its e-mail updates to three times a week, from once a week. These updates will coincide with the official release of the updated case counts at 11 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The e-mail update will now be the best way to get the update on the numbers in each state.
Ohio University has already implemented, or is in the process of implementing, CDC recommendations for institutions of higher education in response to the virus. These measures include working with the student health center to track and report influenza-like illness to the county health department and reviewing university plans for responding to a public health emergency to ensure they are up-to-date.
